Nusa Dua. State-controlled lender Bank Rakyat Indonesia launched its Wirausaha Brilian smartphone application, which is aimed at giving small businesses easier access to entrepreneurship training.
In its decision to create the app, the lender better known as BRI considered the fact that many owners of small, medium and micro enterprises come from a low-income background, which means that they would benefit from the training, especially on financial literacy.
The lender also sought to show that technology can be useful in empowering players in the creative economy.
BRI introduced the app during the first meeting of the Friends of Creative Economy at the 2018 World Conference on Creative Economy, which is taking place in Nusa Dua, Bali, this week.
About 2,000 participants from 30 countries, including government officials, academics and industry players, are expected to attend the inaugural event.
Participants will exchange ideas on ways to strengthen the global creative economy.
The creative economy contributed 7.4 percent, or Rp 922.6 trillion (62.2 billion), to Indonesia's gross domestic product in 2016.
