Jakarta. Township developer Lippo Cikarang and the Mitsubishi Corporation held a topping-off ceremony for two new apartment towers in Orange County in Bekasi district, West Java, last week.

The new towers, Glendale Park and Newport Park, are the fifth and sixth in the developer's Orange County township. The ceremony was also attended by Obing Fachrudin, head of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) in Bekasi district.

"The topping off of Glendale Park and Newport Park towers is a joint operation by Lippo Cikarang and the Mitsubishi Corporation, and it shows our commitment and responsibility to undertake sustainable and consistent developments," Lippo Cikarang president director Simon Subiyanto was quoted as saying in a press release.

"We, along with the Mitsubishi Corporation, are committed to preparing these two towers to hand them over to our customers on time," he added.

The development of the towers is a cooperative effort between Lippo Cikarang and Mitsubishi through its subsidiary, Diamond Development Indonesia. The project involves world-class Japanese designer Kengo Kuma as its main design consultant in the Orange County masterplan, Mitsubishi Jisho Sekkei as the main architect and Kajima Indonesia as the contractor.

Glendale Park and Newport Park feature facilities such as Japanese spas, swimming pools, sports centers and children's playgrounds. The apartments also feature high-tech retina scan access systems and locks, along with motion-activated lighting.

Units in Glendale Park will be handed over to their new owners in the last quarter of this year, while those in Newport Park will be handed on the second quarter of next year.

Lippo Cikarang has so far handed over units in three other towers in Orange County, namely Irvine Suites and Westwood Suites on Sept. 1 last year and Pasadena Suites on Jan. 12 this year.

The development of Orange County is continuing, with the central business district, Pelita Harapan University campus, five-star hotel, international convention center, Siloam Hospital and retail and entertainment districts still in the works.

Orange County is a Lippo Cikarang megaproject aimed at establishing an integrated and strategic space for thousands of workers and multinational companies operating in the Bekasi district, including Lippo Cikarang and Astra, Honda, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and other manufacturing companies.
