Police Name Five Suspects in Samarinda Church Bombing
Jakarta. Five people have been named suspects in a bomb attack at the Oikumene Church in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, last Sunday (13/11).
"We've named five suspects including [the bomb attacker] Juhanda. We arrested 21 people, but only five of them have been named suspects," National Police spokesman Gen. Insp. Boy Rafli Amar said in Jakarta on Thursday.
Boy did not mention the identity of the other four suspects.
The 32-year old Juhanda, also known by his initals MAK, was involved in a series of bomb threats in Serpong and Jakarta, including the notorious "Book Bomb" threat on a local radio station in Jakarta.
He was also a member of Pepi Fernando’s terror group, whic is now reportedly part of the Jamaah Anshar Daulah (JAD).
A two-year-old girl, Intan Marbun, was killed in the church bombing in Samarinda. Three other children were severely injured.
Boy also mentioned the continuing police investigation in another bomb attack on a monastery in Singkawang, West Kalimantan.
"A special regional police team, supported by officers of the National Police, have been on the hunt for the attackers in Singkawang. These are groups that want to cause chaos in our country," Boy said.
