Telkom Deploys Thousands to Ensure Smooth Service During Idul Fitri

JUNE 18, 2018

Jakarta. Telkom Indonesia put on duty thousands of staff members to anticipate a spike in use of communications services during the Idul Fitri holidays between June 8 and June 21.

Telkom vice president of corporate communications Arif Prabowo said Telkom would ensure that its networks will be able to handle the traffic volume.

"Hopefully, with the support of 18,393 workers on standby at 98 posts, we will be able to ease communications for families during the holidays," he said in a statement on Monday (18/06).

Arif added that in order to prepare for the holidays, Telkom has strengthened its networks in popular destinations.

"Telkom has prepared services in 368,000 and and Wifi Corner access points at strategic locations such as airports, train stations, malls and tourist destinations."

Telkomsel, a subsidiary of TelkomGroup, has also increased network capacity at strategic points of the homecoming routes.

"During this period, the use of communications services is higher than usual, therefore Telkomsel has made various infrastructural preparations to ensure that customers can enjoy the service comfortably during the holidays," Arif said.

This year, Telkomsel expects a 137 percent increase in data traffic compared with last year, due to a shift in consumer behavior that puts preference on data services. Telkom's customers are supported by more than 171,000 base transceiver stations spread across Indonesia.
