Erick Thohir Resigns as Viva President Commissioner
Jakarta. Visi Media Asia president commissioner Erick Thohir is stepping down from his post, the company announced in a filing to the Indonesia Stock Exchange on Tuesday (24/01).
The publicly-listed media holding company, known as Viva, said it received Erick's resignation letter on Thursday last week, but was not immediately available to comment on the reason.
Visi Media owns and operates news portal Viva.co.id, through its subsidiary Viva Media Baru, and two free-to-air station networks, ANTV and TV One.
Visi Media controls 89.9 percent of Intermedia Capital, while 5.4 percent belongs to the local arm of multinational life insurance company Prudential Life Insurance and the rest is publicly owned. Intermedia operates ANTV.
Erick was appointed as Viva commissioner president in April 2015 after stepping down from his previous post as vice commissioner in July 2014. He has also been Intermedia chief executive since July 2013.
He has served as chief commissioner of office rental service Redal Semesta, as a commissioner of management consultancy Global Media since 2012, as chief commissioner of Entertainment Live and media conglomerate Mahaka Media since 2008 and as director of Trinugraha Thohir since 1994.
He also served as a commissioner at coal miner Berau Coal between 2006 and 2010, the chief executive of Beyond Media (Mahaka's Media holding company) from 2008 to 2011 and as chief executive of Lativi Mediakarya (Viva's subsidiary that operates TV One) from 2007 to 2012.
Visi Asia Media’s share price closed 0.6 percent higher at Rp 338 on Tuesday, compared to an average gain of 0.8 percent on the benchmark index.
