Home Affairs Minister to Suspend Top Official Over Graft Investigation
Palu, Central Sulawesi. Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo announced on Thursday (03/03) that he will suspend the ministry's head of financial administration and asset management, after the latter was named a graft suspect.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named Dudy Jocom, who also serves as general manager of state-owned construction company Hutama Karya, and Budi Rahmat Kurniawan suspects in a graft case relating to the Institute of Public Administration's (IPDN) construction project in Agam, West Sumatra.
The Rp 125 billion ($9.46 million) endeavor, which was funded by the Home Affairs Ministry budget in 2011, reportedly incurred up to Rp 34 billion in state losses.
KPK investigators on Tuesday searched four separate locations for evidence, namely Dudy's office at the Home Affairs Ministry, Hutama Karya's main office, the office of state-owned construction company Bina Karya and an architecture firm simply known as Architect.
“We are still in the middle of discussing [Dudy's] suspension with the Home Affairs Ministry's secretariat general,” Tjahjo said.
The ministry will provide Dudy with a lawyer from its legal firm, he added.
