Senior Golkar Politician Ade Komarudin Questioned in Setya Novanto's Graft Probe
Jakarta. Antigraft investigators questioned senior Golkar Party politician Ade Komarudin on Wednesday (22/11) in their ongoing probe into a graft case connected to the procurement of national electronic identity cards, or e-KTP, which already involved another Golkar politician and House of Representatives speaker Setya Novanto.
Ade was questioned as a witness in the case. Setya has already been put under detention by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) since Sunday after evading arrest for almost a week.
Setya has been questioned several times as a witness to give testimonies against other suspects in the million-dollar graft case.
"I was questioned to give testimonies against different suspects but as part of the same investigation," Ade told reporters at KPK headquarters in South Jakarta after a two-hour grilling.
"They [the investigators] asked the same questions. I explained the same things. There was nothing new," he added, declining to elaborate.
Ade was the secretary of the Golkar Party faction in the House when the e-KTP project was under deliberation. He is alleged to have received $100,000 in kickbacks from the project.
Setya was named as a suspect for the second time in the case earlier this month. The Rp 5.9 trillion ($436 million) project resulted in a total of Rp 2.3 trillion in state losses.
Setya is accused of siphoning off Rp 574 billion from the e-KTP project and could face up to 20 years in prison if found guilty.
