Jakarta. Students from Jakarta State Polytechnic's Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions, or MICE, program held the three-day exhibition "Ethnic on the Go" in Jakarta since Friday.

A total of 25 brands and organizations from all over Indonesia took part in the exhibition, showcasing fashion products made from traditional Indonesian textiles, such as tenun (woven cloths) and batik.

The event is being held at the Gandaria City mall in South Jakarta. Most of the fashion items in the exhibition are targeted at young customers with a price to match.

Some brands seen in the exhibition are NAZ, Nduk, Metty, Soekirman, Oerip and Mufit.

MICE is an increasingly popular subject to study at tertiary level in Indonesia. Students often have to stage real exhibitions as part of their degree. They have to be involved in all aspects of the organization. In Ethnic on the Go, the students also perform dances and model the clothes on the catwalk.

Everlin, a spokeswoman for the event, said preparation for the event took about six months.

The organizers expect around 12,000 visitors to come throughout the weekend.
