Mmm... Paint Your Love: Hanson and Michael Learns to Rock to Grace Jakarta's 'The '90s Festival'
Jakarta. Two of the most popular pop-rock bands in Indonesia in the 1990s, Michael Learns to Rock and Hanson, have confirmed their attendance at "The '90s Festival 2019" in Jakarta in November, promoter Accellera Entertainment said on Wednesday.
The festival has been riding the wave of the '90s revival trend since 2014. Local bands Sheila On 7, GIGI, Potret, Jamrud, Type-X, Element Reunion, Tofu, Wong Band, M.E., Bunglon and legendary diva Vina Panduwinata will also perform at the festival on Nov 23-24.
Arinda from Accellera Entertainment said they have decided to make the festival last two days instead of the usual one this year due to high demand.
"Fans told us music from the '90s was the most pleasant to the ears and easiest to digest," Arinda said.
The biggest challenge for the promoter was ferreting out some of the musicians who are no longer active in the music industry.
Arinda said they had to resort to the old-school tactic of door-knocking.
"Most of these musicians no longer have a manager," she said.
"You can easily contact artists these days through their managers on social media. But these '90s artists don't use Instagram," Arinda said.
Presale tickets for The '90s Festival went on sale on Traveloka and www.the90sfestival.com on Friday.
One-day festival-class ticket will set you back Rp 520,000 ($37). Two-day ticket costs Rp 720,000.
The "Superfestival" ticket costs Rp 1,300,000 for one day and Rp 1,800,000 for two days.
