Jakarta. A magnitude-7 earthquake hit Lombok Island in West Nusa Tenggara on Sunday night (19/08), followed by a series of strong aftershocks, the National Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, or BMKG said.
The quake struck in the sea, 30 kilometers north-northeast of the island, the agency said on Twitter.
Earlier on Sunday, an earthquake of 6.5 magnitude struck the island, causing landslides and damage to infrastructure, where an earthquake on Aug. 5 killed more than 460 people.

"Aftershocks continue. Electricity has been cut off," National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesman Sutopo Nugroho said in a tweet.
Tremors were felt in East Lombok, North Lombok, West Sumbawa and Bali, where people rushed into the streets when the ground started shaking.
No tsunami warning has been issued.
