Jakarta. The National Search and Rescue Agency, or Basarnas, is using drones in the search for victims of the Cimanuk River flash floods in Garut, West Java.

Basarnas Bandung spokesman Joshua said on Tuesday (27/09) that the drones are used to scan the Jatigede Dam area.

The drones are more effective as they can cover areas that are difficult to reach by land.

Rafts and kayaks have also been deployed with around 90 rescue workers, comprising of members of the military, volunteers and local residents.

"The rescue team will also search [for missing victims] in other areas," Joshua said.

At least 34 people died in last week's flood, while 19 are still missing.
