Fire Destroys Dozens of Fishing Boats in Benoa Port, Bali
Jakarta. Thirty-nine fishing vessels anchored in Benoa Port, Bali, caught fire at around 2.00 a.m. local time on Monday (09/07). No casualties have been reported.
"There are no deaths from the incident," the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) said in a statement.
The agency said 11 firefighting units were involved in extinguishing the fire. The causes are now under investigation. Losses from the incident have yet to be calculated.
The destroyed vessels include five boats belonging to AKFI (Cilacap Jaya Karya, Akau Jaya Lima, BMJ Satu, Bintang Barat, Bina Sejati), seven belonging to Intimas Surya (Hiroyosi 7, Permata 03, Permata 103, Permata 06, Permata 01, Mutiara 28, Mutiara 10), and two belonging to Bandar Nelayan (Bandar Nelayan 168, Bandar Nelayan 2019).
The remaining 25 boats have not been identified yet.
