Jakarta. Two university students from Jakarta drowned on Saturday after they were swept away by a West Java river, reportedly while taking selfies.

The students, identified as Marsya Sukma Anissa and Rizqi Sulistyowati, were hit by a flash flood at an irrigation dam in Sukabami district's Sukasari village.

A total of five people, including one resident and two other students, were swept away, but only Marsya and Rizqi could not be saved.

The students, from Jakarta State University (UNJ), had been working in the area for their Community Service Program (KKN), which is part of higher education in Indonesia.
