Empowering Young Women Through Farming in East Nusa Tenggara
Plan International Indonesia has assisted 149 horticulture farming groups in Timor Tengah Selatan (TTS) and Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) in East Nusa Tenggara to increase productivity in planting fruits and vegetables. The Young Women's Economic Empowerment program has proven farming could lead the way in helping young women earn their own income and become self-reliant. The European Union-funded project has helped more than 3,000 young women aged between 15 and 29 years since launching three years ago.
Empowering women through farming activities can give an instant boost to local markets and create the path to food sustainability.
