Finance Minister Sri Mulyani and National Narcotics Agency chief Budi Waseso paraded drug traffickers and bags of crystal methamphetamine — locally known as sabu — and ecstasy pills seized from them at the Finance Ministry headquarters in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (07/02).
Officers from the ministry's Customs and Excise Directorate General and the BNN had arrested members of the international drug ring in Aceh.
BNN chief Budi said the officers seized 110 kilograms of sabu and 18,300 ecstasy pills in Aceh and North Sumatra.
The leader of the drug ring was a man named Togiman aka Toge.
The officers arrested 12 alleged members of the drug ring, one of them a woman. They can face the death penalty if found guilty.
