Jakarta. Indonesian designer Franka Soeria, who currently resides in Turkey, believes modest wear is a big business potential for Indonesia, as she embarks on a mission to promote the industry internationally.
Speaking at the 4th Indonesian Diaspora Congress in Jakarta on Saturday (01/07), Franka said she began to work on modest fashion after she moved to Turkey in 2013.
In Turkey, she worked as a manager at Modanisa, an e-commerce company for Muslim fashion. The platform attracts around 6 million visitors each month. She then decided to use her skills and knowledge in public relations to promote Indonesian design. Three years ago, she co-founded Alahijab.com, a platform for designers to promote their hijab and modest wear collections.
"Modest fashion in Indonesia has a huge potential, designers are very creative, but not many people are willing to be behind the industry's screen. I am on a mission to create a global platform to promote Indonesian modest wear," she said, as quoted by Antara news agency.
