Jember Fashion Carnival to Entertain Jakarta Shoppers on National Sales Day
Jakarta. Jember Fashion Carnival — or JFC, famous for its outlandish costumes — will send a contingent to Jakarta next month to stage fashion shows as part of National Sales Day, or HBD, which will actually last for four days from Aug. 17 to Aug. 20.
The carnival contingent will stage two fashion shows in Jakarta, on Aug. 15 and Aug. 17.
"Aside from offering deep discounts on all sorts of goods, we will also hold special events including a flag ceremony, fun competitions, and the JFC [fashion show] at the Gambir Expo Jakarta," the HBD committee's chairwoman, Fetty Kwartati, said on Thursday (20/07).
Fetty said for HBD shops in malls, markets, airports and train stations across Indonesia will hold special sales from Aug. 17 to Aug. 20.
"HBD is held as part of the "Happy Birthday Indonesia Festival" which will run from Aug. 15 to Aug. 27 in the Gambir Expo Jakarta in Kemayoran," Fetty said.
HBD Indonesia is expected to attract over 20 million shoppers who will spend their money on special deals from 500 local and international brands and 200 companies.
Since this year marks the 72nd anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, there will be many 72-themed deals available: 72 percent discount, Rp 72,000 ($5) special price or "buy two for Rp 72,000" deal.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya praised the initiative for National Sales Day and the committee's decision to invite JFC to the event.
"This is a good collaboration. JFC has been running for a long time, 16 years, Jember is our Carnival City," Arief said.
JFC has also won many international awards, including the Best National Costume Miss International 2014 in Tokyo, Japan; Best National Costume Miss Supranational 2014 and 2015 in Warsaw, Poland and Best National Costume Miss Universe 2014 in Florida, the United States.
