Bangkok the Top Destination Among Indonesian Millennial Travelers
Jakarta. Bangkok is the favorite travel destination for Indonesian millennials, according to sales data from Scoot, the low-cost carrier of the Singapore Airlines Group.
Asian cities still feature high on the list of Indonesian millennials' top destinations, Scoot said in a statement received by the Jakarta Globe on Friday. Hong Kong, Melbourne, Sydney and Taipei follow Bangkok as favorites.
The top-10 destinations also include Guangzhou and Phuket.
Scoot said Ho Chi Minh city is increasing in popularity among Indonesian millennials, due to its affordability and culinary and natural attractions.
The carrier said 85 percent of its Indonesian millennial passengers travel only with carry-on baggage, and that more than 50 percent have flown at least twice in the past 10 months.
Scoot hopes to tap this vibrant market through flight promotions offered between Wednesday and Sunday this week, and seeks to attract them to book flights to discounted routes.
"We are constantly looking for new and attractive destinations for our passengers. Millennials are always at the front in traveling innovations, and we are committed to always be the leader in traveling trends to enhance the consumer experience," Scoot chief commercial officer Vinod Kannan said in the statement.
The number of Indonesians traveling abroad is projected to increase to 10.6 million in 2021 from 7 million in 2016, according to data compiled by Statista, an online-based statistics, market research and business intelligence portal.
