Jakarta. Indonesian fans of the popular television series "Game of Thrones" flocked to a live screening of the seventh season's pilot episode hosted by HBO Asia at The Ice Palace in Lotte Shopping Avenue in Karet Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Monday (17/07).
The early morning screening, which started at 8 a.m., did not prove to be any deterrent to most people. Guests could take photos with the legendary Iron Throne and receive exclusive airbrush tattoos of their favorite houses. Some even arrived dressed up as their favorite characters.
According to a statement by HBO Asia, premiere screenings were also held in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand on the same day.
In Bangkok, the screening was attended by six Thai celebrities who lent their voices to the dubbed version of the series. They were Mario Maurer, Nantida Kaewbuasai, Namthip Jongrachatawiboon, Preeti Barameeanant, Ploychompoo Jannine Weigel and Pleng Chontida Asavahame.
Keeping the Hype Alive
HBO Asia has been ramping up fans' anticipation way before the new season of its most-watched series was released, and the hype did not stop with the premiere.
A pencil microsculpture exhibition, showcasing works by artist Salavat Fidai, is currently taking place in Bangkok after visiting Singapore between April and June and Selangor, Malaysia, earlier this month.
In Taiwan, fans could enjoy limited-edition Night King popsicles at dessert outlet Ice Monster in Taipei on July 1-2 and July 8-9. During this time, the Iron Throne was on display in an air-conditioned glass container at Neo 19 shopping complex, along with the appearance of Night King and White Walkers.
A mobile truck will carry the iconic throne to various locations around Hong Kong for anyone brave enough to sit on it, during the last two weekends of this month.
Hong Kong-based frozen yoghurt outlet Yo Mama will also give away limited-edition cups to fans who tag HBO Asia with #GOTS7HK hashtag on social media on July 29-30.
