Jakarta. First anniversaries are important milestones in life. It shows that the individual or organization has successfully overcome the most challenging moments in the beginning of their journey and is now ready to step up to the next level.

On Wednesday (14/12), the Indonesia Fashion Chamber (IFC) celebrated its first anniversary at the Neo Soho shopping mall in West Jakarta. The chamber officially launched Dec. 16 last year.

"This is a historic moment for us," said Ali Charisma, national chairman of IFC. "Our organization is still very young. We have a lot to work in order to achieve our goals and dreams."

For a young organization, IFC has been doing quite well. Within the year, it has recruited 150 members and developed local chapters in 12 cities in Indonesia.

On Wednesday, the fashion organization also launched their first retail outlet, d2-i.

"The name d2-i means 'desainer-desainer Indonesia' ['Indonesian designers']," Ali said. "But at the same time, its pronunciation in English has a positive connotation, which is 'dituai' ['to reap']."

"With this store, we hope to reap profits from our creativity," said Ali.

The concept store, which occupies 205 square meters of premium retail store on the upper ground level of the mall, boasts a sleek, minimalist decor. Currently, it showcases the latest collections of 27 IFC members.

"It offers a diverse range of products: men's, women's and Muslim fashion items with chic, dynamic styles," said Ali.

The organization also presented a fashion show of the store's collections at its opening on Wednesday.

Welly Adi Kristya, marketing communication manager of Neo Soho, also attended the opening of the new store.

"We're very proud to be able to support Indonesia's fashion industry and provide a platform for Indonesian designers," said Welly. "We hope IFC will continue to grow and inspire other young Indonesian designers with their creativity and innovations."

The organization also plans to set up a bigger d2-i store in a hotel in Bali in May.

"The store will be huge, as it'll occupy about 1,000 sqm of retail area," said Ali.

The store in Bali will also offer the services of a fashion stylist that can help you to mix and match your fashion choices.

"It'll be a one-stop shopping for fashion lovers," said Ali.

To engage the participation of more stakeholders of Indonesia's fashion in growing the industry, IFC will launch the 'IFC Community' early next year.

"It's a group for Indonesia's fashion enthusiasts, whoever they might be; fashion students, fashion designers and consumers," said Ali. "The group will meet regularly to discuss many interesting topics on Indonesia's fashion industry."

IFC Community will be managed by the organization's local chapters.

The organization will also present its signature events, Muslim Fashion Festival (MuFFest) and the Ramadan in Style bazaar, in Jakarta in mid-2017.

"We aim to be the motor of Indonesia's fashion industry and grow the industry together with our members," said IFC's national chairman, Ali Charisma.
