Jakarta. Indonesian pop and R&B group RAN collaborated with senior band Kahitna on new single "Salamku Untuk Kekasihmu Yang Baru" ("Say Hello to Your New Lover"), which was released on Friday (11/11) to mark RAN's 10th anniversary.
The song tells the story of heartbreaks, of the first moment after a relationship ends when one discovers that the other has moved on.
"We tried to capture all the different feelings that come when we see an ex moving on, which we performed together with Kahitna," said group member Astono "Asta" Handoko, as quoted by Antara.
The group looks up to Kahitna for its inspiration.
"They're not just our idols, but our inspiration. Kahitna's music career has been the backbone of our motivation since the beginning," said Anindyo Baskoro, better known as Nino.
The latest single, taken from their fifth album titled "RAN," reflects a celebration of their 10 years in music, which has been filled with many good moments, Asta said. The group sees it as an opportunity to invite the seniors in an artistic work.
RAN was formed in 2006, consisting of Asta, Nino and Rayi Putra Rahardjo. Their first album, "RAN For Your Life" was released in 2008, which earned them fame in the Indonesian music industry. "Dekat di Hati" and "Pandangan Pertama" are two of their hit singles over the years.
"Salamku Untuk Kekasihmu Yang Baru" is available for digital download on iTunes and streaming on Apple Music, while a lyric video is also available on YouTube.
