Jakarta. Timo Scheunemann has resigned from his post as Persiba Balikpapan's head coach after leading the East Kalimantan club to a three-game losing streak in Indonesia's top-tier Liga 1.
The 43-year-old Timo, an Indonesian-born German national, was Persiba's coach for only four months before announcing his resignation on Monday night (01/05).
Persiba lost to Malang's Arema FC 0-1 just hours before Timo announced his decision.
"I apologize for not showing maximum results over these past four months," Timo wrote on one of the club's official social media accounts.
"Persiba was the only club I played for during my professional career as footballer in Indonesia, so this team is special for me," Timo wrote.
"I hope you will gain success after my departure."
Persiba, now at the bottom of the Liga 1 table, will be led temporarily by assistant coach Haryadi.
