Indonesian Ambassador to Croatia Dies at 67
Jakarta. Indonesia's Ambassador to Croatia, Alexander Litaay, passed away at 67 in Zagreb, Croatia on Sunday (26/06).
According to a statement of Foreign Affairs Ministry, Alexander — a senior politician from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle — died after receiving treatment for heart disease and stroke at Dubrava Hospital in Zagreb since April 23.
“Alexander Litaay has served his post in Croatia since March 2016. He has strong commitment to contribute in improvement of bilateral relationship with Croatia,” Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi said on Monday.
Before being sworn in as Ambassador, Alex served as lawmaker with the PDI-P for more than 15 years. He was well-known as an activist of the Movement of Indonesian Christian Students, or GMKI.
A ceremonial to Alexander will be held at Gedung Pancasila in Foreign Ministry complex.
