Jakarta. Young Indonesians from around the world are expected to attend the fourth international Conference of Indonesian Diaspora Youth in Jakarta on Aug. 13-15, the organizer said in a statement on Monday (04/06).
"This conference is aimed at protecting and strengthening the Indonesian spirit among members of our diaspora youth," said Dino Patti Djalal, chairman of the board of trustees of the Indonesian Diaspora Network Global (IDNGlobal).
During the three-day conference, participants will meet with representatives of Indonesia's 34 provinces to exchange views on the country's cultural heritage, tolerance and multiculturalism. They will also discuss Vision 2045, which aims to turn the Indonesian economy into the world's fifth-largest.
Last year, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo introduced Vision 2045, which consists of infrastructure development, the development of processing industry aimed at raising added value, and the development of the country's service industry.
"We hope this meeting will foster friendships and cooperation that will be beneficial to the youth and Indonesia," Dino said.
IDNGlobal will work closely with the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) and the Overseas Indonesian Students Association Alliance (PPI Dunia) in hosting the event.
