Jakarta Police Form New Team to Tackle Traffic Jams
Jakarta. The Jakarta Police have established a new team to tackle increased traffic congestion in the capital city.
The task force comprises of 30 traffic policemen.
Jakarta Police Traffic Directorate head Sr. Comr. Ermayudi said the team will help to ease the already bad situation on the city's roads caused not only by the growing number of vehicles, but also construction works.
"This shows that we still care about the problem of traffic jams. With this team we hope to provide more comfort for members of the public," Ermayudi said in Jakarta on Tuesday (11/04).
The team will be divided into six groups, one for each precinct.
"We will start tonight. One group, consisting of an officer and four brigadiers, will be present in each precinct. We have mapped the areas, including Matraman in East Jakarta, R.A. Kartini road in South Jakarta and so on," Ermayudi said.
He added that the locations will be changing in accordance with the levels of congestion.
The task force will be deployed during rush hours, from 9 a.m to 10 p.m.
