Minister, Governor Warn Civil Servants to Show Up for Work After Holiday Break
Jakarta. Asman Abnur, minister for state apparatus empowerment and bureaucracy reforms told civil servants on Wednesday (27/12) to show up to work on Jan. 2 since that date has not been declared as a joint leave day, or holiday.
The government listed joint leave dates and national holidays in the 2017 Joint Decree on Sept. 22. The decree was signed by Asman Abnur, Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin and Employment Minister Hanif Dhakiri.
Those who fail to show up for work will be sanctioned according to the 2014 Law on State Civil Apparatus and related government regulation (PP) No. 11 of 2017.
"[The law] clearly specifies sanctions for civil servants who violate the rule; everything is detailed, the process is clear," Asman said on the sidelines of Development Planning Meetings (Musrenbang) at City Hall in Jakarta.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan also urged city civil servants to come to work on time and complete their tasks on the first day of work after a long Christmas holiday, which ends on Wednesday.
"For all employees, there are disciplinary rules. All must come on time and thoroughly complete their job," Anies said.
In 2018, there will be 16 national holidays days and five days of joint leave.
