Jakarta. US federal agents picked up a former American police officer turned fugitive from his home in the resort island of Bali on Tuesday after local authorities arrested him in July, a Bali Police officer said.

Vontrey Jamal Clark, 33, who previously served in the Austin, Texas, police force, is wanted in connection with the murder there of 29-year-old Samantha Dean in February. Dean was reported to be pregnant with Clark's child at the time of her death.

"We handed over the suspect yesterday at 3 p.m. [local time] at Ngurah Rai International Airport. He was flown back with a special plane from the American government," Sr. Comr. Hery Wuryanto, a spokesman for the Bali Police, said on Wednesday as quoted by Kompas.

Clark had been on the FBI's wanted list until police in Bali apprehended him in late July at a residence in North Kuta, Badung district.

Police said Clark did not make any attempt to resist arrest.
