Jakarta. The National Police have managed to establish the whereabouts of Rizieq Shihab, the leader of the hardline Islamic Defenders Front, or FPI, after he had twice failed to attend a questioning in a pornography case.

Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono said on Tuesday (16/05) that Rizieq is known to be in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The pornography case involves a woman, Firza Husein, who had allegedly sent nude pictures of herself to the firebrand cleric through WhatsApp. The leaked photographs and screen shots of their chat have recently gone viral in social media.

Since Rizieq has ignored the police summons twice, first on April 25 and then on May 10, the police will take him by force.

Rizieq reportedly went to Saudi Arabia for a pilgrimage with his family and has not returned yet.

It is not clear whether the cleric will be arrested in Jeddah, Argo said the police need to review if this is possible under the Saudi law.

"We will coordinate with the Interpol and the immigration," Argo said.

The police are also investigating the authenticity of the pornographic chat between Rizieq and Firza.
