Jakarta. Former Jakarta governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and his second wife Puput Nasititi Devi welcomed their son who was born in Jakarta on Monday morning.

His close friends paid a visit to the Bunda Maternity Hospital in Menteng, Central Jakarta, to congratulate the couple.

Among them is Jakarta Legislative Council speaker Prasetio Edi Marsudi.

"The baby boy is named Yosafat Abimanyu Purnama, born at 8.50 a.m.,” Prasetio told reporters at his office.

"Mr. Ahok looked so happy with the arrival of his newborn son," he said.

He said former deputy governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat also visited the couple at the hospital.

“Congratulations to Mr. Ahok for the newborn baby boy. I wish the baby good health and blessing from God," he said.

While serving his sentence for blasphemy conviction, Ahok divorced his first wife Veronica Tan in January 2018 over alleged infidelity after 21 years of marriage with three children.

He married Puput on Jan. 25 last year, just one day after he completed his prison term. Before marrying Ahok, Puput was a policewoman tasked as a close protection officer for Veronica during Ahok's tenure as governor.
