'The Amazing Race Asia' Set to Return for Fifth Season
Jakarta. Reality television game show "The Amazing Race Asia" will return for a fifth season next month.
For this season, the show has selected 11 teams from Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. The teams will compete in a high-octane dash around Asia for a chance to win $100,000 in cash.
The teams are made up of a group of clever individuals with the spirit to win and the easygoing nature to enjoy the competition.
According to Virginia Lim, senior vice president and head of content, production and marketing at Sony Pictures Television Networks Asia, this season will be filled with drama, craziness and surprising scenes. The competition is extremely wild, with a fascinating and mesmerizing cultural journey to just about every hyped and spectacular tourist destination.
Allan Wu returns for his fifth time as host and he is paired up with Indonesian actress Tara Basro.
The race will take place in various cities across the Southeast Asia region, including Yogyakarta, Manila, Taipei and Ho Chi Minh City. The latest season features a new interactive option for the AXN audience, Wu and the participants. Members of the audience can utilize social media on the hashtag #AXNTARA or @AXNTARA.
Wu has expressed his joy at being able to communicate with the audience and to share the competition's experiences during this series. He has made various exclusive recordings that will only be available online.
"This will add a new dimension as you watch this competition, because no audience can see what happens behind the scenes, it's something we've never done before." Wu said in a statement.
"The Amazing Race Asia" will premiere on AXN on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m.
The show is supported by Wonderful Indonesia, in partnership with Garuda Indonesia, Grab and Great Eastern Insurance.
