Andien to Take Center Stage at Semarang's Argo Muria Festival

Jakarta. After her stellar performance at Java Jazz Festival in March, jazz-pop singer, businesswoman and health enthusiast Andien Aisyah will hold a special performance at the Agro Muria Festival in Semarang on July 14.
Organized by Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), the one-day music festival is the first jazz festival to be held in Lawang Sewu, the former office of the Nederlandsch-Indische Spoorweg Maatschappij – the Dutch East Indies' railway company and now a popular tourist site – in Semarang, Central Java.
The jazz festival will feature many local musicians who will help introduce tourist sites in Central Java.
KAI director Agus Dwinanto said the festival will be opened to the public. Visitors will only have to pay the entrance fee to Lawang Sewu.
"We're not going to charge admission for the festival. Everyone can come and enjoy their time here," he said.
In her Argo Muria show, 31-year-old Andien will perform her classic hits and also new songs from her latest album, "Metamorfosa."
Released last year, the lyrics in Metamorfosa tells of Andien's experiences as a mother.
"This album is quite special for me. Metamorfosa is about motherhood. It's the most personal album I have created in my entire career," she said.
Andien’s latest single "Indahnya Dunia" ("Wonderful World") topped the Indonesian music streaming service JOOX's Top Hits chart.
She will also perform jazz renditions of traditional songs from Semarang, such as "Gambang Semarang" ("Semarang Melodies") and "Jangkrik Genggong" ("Dance of the Crickets").
"This is going to be the first time we [Andien and her band] will perform these traditional songs in jazz arrangements," Andien said.
Besides live music performances, the festival will also feature a cultural exhibition and a food bazaar.
