Tangerang. Soloist Anji on Saturday night performed at the music fest Semesta Berpesta in Tangerang’s ICE BSD with a set list full of love songs that would remind one of their significant other or ex-lover.

Anji kicked off his performance with “Bidadari Tak Bersayap” (Wingless Angel’),  which has lyrics that says “even until the end of my life, would you be my life partner?”. The night went on with “Putus atau Terus” ('Should We Break Up or Stay Together?') and "Merindukanmu" ('Missing You'), among others.

“Shout out to the people in the audience who have just been broken up with. You know what’s worse than breaking up? It is when you have split up, but you still love them,” Anji told the cheering crowd before singing “Berpisah Itu Mudah” (‘Parting is Easy’).

“Too bad everywhere you go, you would think of your ex. When you go to music festivals, you would even think to yourself: ‘I used to watch concerts with them’,” Anji said.

“Bersama Bintang” (‘Together with the Stars’) —a song released by Anji’s former band Drive— also got the crowd singing along.

The singer ended his almost-an-hour-long performance with “Dia” (‘Him/Her’). The audience, of whom many were couples, sang their hearts out to the song that tells how a person truly loves someone.

Festival-goer Nugi Wibowo picked ‘Merindukanmu’ as the best song Anji played at Semesta Berpesta. “I could really feel the performance,” Nugi told the Jakarta Globe shortly after the show.

Fellow attendee Anana commented that Anji had given a spectacular performance.

“This is my first time seeing Anji live in person. I really relate to the songs that he played tonight,” Anana also told the Globe.

Semesta Berpesta will go on until Sunday. The line-up for the second day includes soloist Kunto Aji, singer Danilla, pop band Ungu, indie group Fourtwnty, and DJ Winky Wiryawan.
