Bali Classic Motor Show Helps Boost Tourism in Island of the Gods
Jakarta. Auto-tourism is a growing industry in Indonesia and the second Bali Classic Motor Show is proving it once again by attracting even more tourists to an island better known for its beach resorts.
The car exhibition will take place at the Lotte Mart parking lot in Denpasar on Aug. 14-23.
"The show will carry the theme of 'Tourism and Motoring' this year, showing how cars have become one of the main witnesses of tourism development in Bali," show organizer Gde Agus Mahendra Pendit said on Wednesday (21/06).
According to Agus, the event is now officially part of the local tourism agency's agenda for the next five years.
To highlight the Tourism and Motoring theme, classic cars in the show will be exhibited with a background showing Bali's beaches, mountains and villages.
The show will feature mainly pre-World War II cars from 1908, 1920s to 1940s. There will also be cars from the 1950s up to 1970s.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said the first event last year had brought local and international visitors to Bali.
"Car lovers have contributed a lot to tourism in this country. They do tours to tourist destinations and help promote them. They also organize exhibitions like this, which attract both local and foreign tourists," Arief said.
