For Balinese entrepreneur Agung Pano, good service is key when it comes to hospitality. As the owner and founder of Sandi Agung Villa in the popular tourist hub of Seminyak, Agung has created a boutique spot tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets.
Located near Bali’s Petitenget Beach and close to a string of popular eateries and venues like Potato Head and the restaurant Merah Putih, Sandi Agung Villa is close to Seminyak’s main attractions, yet in a quieter and more peaceful setting.
Straying away from the likes of large hotel chains already dotted across the island of Bali, Agung opted for a more intimate space when he developed the villas more than two years ago.
“The land belonged to my parents and it was in such a good location to construct some villas,” he explains of the property located on Jalan Cendrawasih.
There are just five two-bedroom villas within the complex, each one designed with and featuring Balinese touches throughout — a perfect blend between traditional and contemporary design.
Walking through the double-door entrance, guests will find an open-air living and dining area adjoining a full-service kitchen — where a butler will whip up breakfast for guests each morning. Rounding out the lavish outdoor entertainment space is a pool and garden complete with lounge chairs to relax on and an outdoor bathroom and shower.
The bedrooms are equally as lavish, with each room featuring a queen-sized bed and a spacious en suite bathroom — perfect for families or two couples holidaying together. The modern bathrooms feature an indoor shower and outdoor bathtub.
“Other villas may have similar designs and interiors but I always aim to give good service for each guest, because a guest is king,” Agung says.
With a butler on call 24/7, guests might find it hard to leave their luxurious abode. But when they do manage to pry themselves away to explore their surroundings, guests can take a short walk to the main streets of Seminyak or use one of the free shuttles from Sandi Agung Villa to a destination of their choice.
“These days, travelers and tourists are more interested in staying in a boutique villa because they have their own personalized service and amenities. The butler service for breakfast, lunch or dinner means guests never have to even head to the lobby; everything they need is within their own villa,” Agung says.
With an extensive in-room dining service available around the clock, guests can enjoy a variety of Indonesian or Western dishes. A personal cook can also whip up tasty meals in the kitchen — so don’t expect a tray of food delivered to your door; meals here are always prepared and set out on your dining room table.
And if you’re not already relaxed in your luxurious villa, then there are a variety of spa treatments that guests can choose from. While a number of hotels often require the guests to head down to the spa for a treatment, at Sandi Agung Villa the spa comes to the guests.
Whether it’s a traditional Balinese massage or a stress-relieving head and back rub or even a creambath, spa therapists will come to your villa and set up the treatment in the comfort of your own space. While the spa service officially runs from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., staff are flexible and can still provide options to guests outside of these hours.
Staff can also help arrange tours around the island and offer services for car rental, babysitting and laundry.
With all of the luxurious amenities one would expect in a large hotel chain — including turn-down service and airport pick-up — packaged into a charming villa, Sandi Agung Villa offers something different but in a convenient location for visitors — old and new — to Bali.
