Jakarta. Indonesia will host the inaugural 2019 Asean Barista Team Championship on July 25-27 at JIExpo in Jakarta. The competition will be open to all baristas from across Southeast Asia.
One of the main supporters of the competition will be the Asean Coffee Federation.
"We are happy to see more than 60 baristas from Asean member countries for the first time ever in Jakarta. This shows how dynamic the Asean coffee industry is. A competition like this will only improve the baristas' skills," Syafrudin, the chairman of Specialty Coffee Association of Indonesia, the organizer of the festival, said in Jakarta on Monday.
"It will also be a great promotional event for local coffee, a chance for local farmers to sell their artisanal products," he said.
Indonesia is famous in the world for producing the best quality Arabica and Robusta coffee beans.
The competition will have a total prize of $10,000.
Each team will have 15 minutes to serve their best version of an espresso, long black, piccolo, cappuccino, flat white and cafe latte complete with intricate latte arts.
You can join the competition by applying here before July 12.
