Indonesian Social Media Buzzbudies Named Sheila on 7 as Ambassador
Jakarta. Indonesian social media Buzzbudies named Yogyakarta-based pop band Sheila on 7 as their brand ambassador in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The platform was built by Andrew Susanto and Willy Lim in 2014 and launched a year later and has attracted over 7,000 users. It aims to make it easy for people with the same interests to engage in public.
Andrew said they are not trying to be the new Facebook, Twitter or Path. Buzzbudies wanted to develop aspects that were ignored by world's giant social medias with their own features.
"We tried to filter high quality posts that suit users and their hobbies, and we want to keep innovating with these features," he said, as quoted by Antara. "We are also trying to handle all the negative, hate posts,"
Buzzbudies defies the common rules of "add friends" and "follow" like Facebook and Twitter by featuring public timelines, a leaderboard, categories such as sport, movies, fashion and anime, buzzing and chatroom. Leaderboard has recently been gaining popularity for showing the level of activity among users in a form of monthly ranks.
