Jakarta. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has called on the Indonesian diaspora to promote the "Wonderful Indonesia" campaign and help the government in its efforts to boost the country's tourism and investment.

"The president hopes the Indonesian diaspora will assist the government in increasing exports and attracting foreign investment to the country," Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said in Jakarta on Monday (03/07).

According to Retno, Jokowi considers the presence of Indonesians in other countries a powerful asset.

As Indonesia has recently received an investment grade from Standard and Poor's, it is expected that foreigners will be more interested in the country.

"With the investment grade it will be easier to attract foreign investors to Indonesia ... The 'Wonderful Indonesia' tagline will be spread by the Indonesian diaspora," Retno said.

Tourism is for Jokowi one of the key sectors, requiring support of both the governmental institutions and members of the public.

Tourism Minister Arief Yahya has thanked the members of the Indonesian diaspora for promoting the tourism industry.
