Jokowi Attends Rice Harvest in Boyolali, C. Java
Jakarta. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo joined a ceremony at the start of the harvesting season for the "Super Jarwo" rice crops in Trayu Village in Boyolali, Central Java, on Saturday (29/10).
Jokowi went to Boyolali accompanied by first lady Iriana, Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo and Minister of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Eko Putro Sandjojo.
The Super Jarwo crops reportedly produce double the amount of rice at harvest time. Jokowi said he will introduce the crop to other regions in Indonesia to increase domestic rice production.
The president came to Boyolali during World Food Day celebrations, which took place all weekend. Jokowi also gave farmers in Boyolali top quality Inpari 30, Inpari 32 and Inpari 33 rice seeds developed by Indonesian scientists.
