Kerry Washington to Star in HBO Legal Drama 'Confirmation'
Jakarta. Kerry Washington stars in “Confirmation,” HBO’s upcoming true story chronicling a high-profile 1991 sexual harassment case that is set for release in April.
Washington, the star of hit television series “Scandal,” plays Anita Hill, a young African-American law professor who accuses her former boss and Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas, played by Wendell Pierce of “The Wire” fame, of sexually harassing her.
The story takes a closer look at politics in Washington and also focuses on victims’ rights. The case was a landmark, changing the way the public viewed the controversial subject of sexual harassment in the workplace at the time.
Greg Kinnear is also cast alongside Washington and Pierce as Democratic senator Joe Biden, who presided over the hearings as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
“Confirmation” is directed by Rick Famuyiwa of “Dope” and written by Susannah Grant, who received an Oscar nomination for her screenplay for “Erin Brockovich.”
The movie will show in Indonesia at the same time as its US premiere in April.
