Jakarta. Minahasa in North Sulawesi is set to hold Tondano Lake Festival from Oct. 27 to Nov. 17 to attract more tourist to the region.

The festival will kick off with a fun walk event starting from God Bless Minahasa Park and ending at the Tondano Moraya fortress.

The event will feature Zumba dance, Poco-poco dance, Maumere dance, traditional culinary attractions and ikan mujair woku belanga cooking competition.

The festival seeks to break the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) record for the biggest number of events in one exhibition.

"We hope this event can become a platform to promote and introduce tourist destinations in Minahasa," Esthy Reko Astuti, tourism development deputy at the Ministry of Tourism, said in a statement on Thursday (29/10).

North Sulawesi has set a target of 1.78 million tourists in 2017.
