Obamas Stay at Tentrem Hotel During Yogyakarta Visit
Jakarta. Former United States President Barack Obama and his entourage went directly to Tentrem Hotel in Jalan A.M. Sangaji upon their arrival in Yogyakarta on Wednesday (28/06).
The hotel belongs to the Sido Muncul Group, a producer of herbal medicines.
Sido Muncul Group director Irwan Hidayat said Obama chose the hotel because it is in an ideal location.
"Tentrem Hotel is ideal, as it is near Malioboro [in downtown Yogyakarta] and the airport. […] Welcome Mr. President, enjoy your stay," Irwan said in a statement on Thursday.
Irwan said the Obamas are staying in the hotel's 273-square-meter Presidential Suite.
"Obama is staying in the Presidential Suite, which is the only one in Tentrem Hotel. He receives VVIP services in the room, equal in size to more than six [regular] rooms," he said.
The services include personal check-in at the Executive Lounge. Guests also have the luxury of having free breakfast in two locations, the Executive Lounge or Kayumanis Coffee Shop.
The published rate for the Presidential Suite is Rp 22 million ($1,650) per night.
During his three-day stay, Obama is scheduled to visit several locations in Yogyakarta and Central Java, including Becici Peak and Dlingo in Bantul, in addition to Prambanan Temple and Borobudur Temple.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya welcomed Obama's visit to Yogyakarta.
"Welcome to Yogyakarta, Mr. President, it is time to explore the city of Gudeg," Arief said. "Yogyakarta is prepared. The arrival of an important figure such Barack Obama should not be taken for granted."
