Jakarta. Yogyakarta-based Papermoon Puppet theater is set to return to the capital city for limited performances at Edwin's Gallery in Kemang, South Jakarta, Oct. 5 to 9.

The group will present a new version of their popular site-specific play "Secangkir Kopi dari Playa," as well as an exhibition by artist Iwan Effendi, photobooth and a pop-up shop. There are two showing times during the five-day event and each show is limited to 50 people.

Papermoon Theater has been performing for local and international audience in big cities worldwide, including Jakarta, Singapore and London. The group is initiated by illustrator and actress Maria Tri Sulistyani in 2006 as an art studio for children. Maria then changed the format of the theater as she began to focus on puppetry in 2008.

In the world of contemporary art, Papermoon Puppet is known for their quiet and poignant storytelling with a special attention to dark chapters in Indonesian history that they often use as a backdrop to their performances. The group recently gained more attention after appearing in the latest hit drama "Ada Apa Dengan Cinta 2?" in May.

These limited shows in Jakarta are part of their fundraising attempt to support the fifth contemporary puppet biennale, Pesta Boneka (Doll Party).  The group initiated the puppet festival in 2008. In 2014, the event presented puppeteers from eight countries to the venue at Bantul, Yogyakarta.

Tickets are available for Rp 300,000 ($22) per pax and available now for purchase here.
