Jakarta. Leading stars from the 10 most successful musicals in the history of London's West End will hold a concert titled "Stars of the West End," at Ciputra Artpreneur Theater in South Jakarta from July 12 to 13.

Produced by the British Theatre Playhouse and Worldwide Entertainment, the concert will feature four stars who have earned numerous accolades, ranging from the Tony Awards, the Theatre World Award and the BBC's Voice of Musical Theater.

The two-day event will combine the presence of Mike Sterling, a singer and actor who has played the leading role in Phantom of the Opera for more than 30 years, with Voice of Musical Theater winner Tom Solomon, along with Shona Lindsay and Yildiz Hussein.

The singers will feature the songs from West End classic hit shows such as "Cats," "Miss Saigon," "Chicago," "Mamma Mia!," "The Phantom of the Opera," "Les Misérables" and "West Side Story."

During the press conference in South Jakarta on Tuesday (11/07), Lindsay said the concert is part of the group's world tour and its first performance in Jakarta.

"We are so excited to have a performance in Jakarta. This is such a great opportunity for us to enlarge our audiences and reach more global attention," the singer and actress said.

"We are happy to bring West End's friendship to Jakarta," she added.

Ciputra Artpreuner president director Rina Ciputra Sastrawinata said the concert will be a great way for audiences to see more than 22 West End plays in one concert.

"We want to provide our audiences with a unique form of entertainment. Some of our audiences might not have seen the shows before but they can see it all in this concert. So, I think it's a great deal," she said.

Rina said the upcoming event will appeal to audiences of all ages.

"I am sure musical lovers of all ages will be familiar with the lineup of songs that will be performed by these artists. I am certain the concert will be well received by audiences."

Stars of the West End has toured extensively since 2011 and performed in many venues across Britain and the United States. The group has decided to extend its journey to Asian countries such as Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia this year.

"We are very fortunate to be able to have them all here. These four stars are also highly in demand and booked up pretty fast. I am glad that they blocked the date for us," said Cecilia Leong-Faulkner, managing editor of the British Theatre Playhouse.

"It will be a blockbuster concert," she added.
