Tame Impala to Rock Singapore This April
Jakarta. The Australian indie rock band Tame Impala is set to hold a concert in Singapore on April 21.
The band's promoter, Secret Sounds Asia, announced on Wednesday that the concert would take place at The Star Theater. It will be Tame Impala's first solo show in Singapore.
Tickets are priced from S$68 to S$148 ( ($47 -$102) and will go on sale online on Feb. 1 at sistic.com.sg.
Starting as a small home recording project in 2007, Tame Impala became known for its brand of psychedelic rock, which the band first introduced through its 2010 debut album, "Innerspeaker."
Kevin Parker is the mastermind of Tame Impala, with a revolving cast of touring members. Currently, the lineup features Cam Avery, Julien Barbagello, Dominic Simper and Jay Watson.
The band's second record, "Lonerism" received a Grammy Award nomination for the Best Alternative Music Album category.
Most recently, Tame Impala released "Currents" in 2015. The album received positive reviews, with Rolling Stone dubbing Parker "the most prominent member of a class of young musicians that is creating some of today's most spectacularly catchy music by being backward-looking and forward-thinking at the same time.
Prior to the upcoming Singapore concert, the band will also make a stop at Singapore's Laneway Festival this January and go on a tour across Europe and South America.
