Tour di Timor Cycling Tour to Highlight Crossborder Tourist Attractions
Jakarta. The first Tour di Timor, or TdT, a cycling tour that will take place across several cities in East Nusa Tenggara, will be held on Dec. 9-12 to promote tourist destinations in the area.
"This is the next chapter after Tour de Flores. Tour di Timor will showcase East Nusa Tenggara to the world," Tourism Ministry's tourism development deputy Esthy Astuti said on Monday (27/11).
The cycling tour will cover a distance of 386 kilometers and is divided into four stages, passing several border towns from Betun Malaka to the province's capital Kupang.
"Local and international media will cover the event. This will be good for East Nusa Tenggara's branding," Esthy said.
The tour is not going to be a race but focuses more on exploring tourist destinations on the island of Timor, including Motadikin Beach, Motaain Border and Adipura Gate.
A total of 600 people have already registered for the tour, 241 of them from neighboring East Timor.
