Travel Industry Association Set to Promote Tourism in East Java

NOVEMBER 08, 2017

Jakarta. The Association of Indonesian Tour and Travel Agencies, or Asita, will hold its second national meeting at Hotel Ciputra World Surabaya in East Java on Nov. 10-13 to promote tourism destinations in the province.

Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, West Java Governor Soekarwo and Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini will attend the meeting along with Asita representatives from 33 provinces. They will be dressed in traditional clothing, characteristic of their respective regions.

The event will coincide with the Bromo Tengger Semeru Travel Mart, which will bring together buyers and sellers in business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) forums, Asita head Asnawi Bahar said on Friday (03/11).

The sellers include travel agencies, hotels, meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) organizers, and tourism attractions in 30 cities and districts in East Java. Buyers are travel agents from Indonesia and abroad, who offer tour packages to East Java.

There will be a gala dinner where buyers and sellers can meet and exchange information about B2B opportunities.

The meetings will be followed by a tour to Mount Bromo, which is one of the government's so-called 10 new Balis, and other places, such as Madura and Kota Batu.

The tour will include several attractions, such as a National Heroes’ Day theatrical performance in Surabaya and workshops presented by the Ministry of Tourism.

Esthy Reko Astuti, deputy for tourism development at the ministry, said they fully support the meeting.
