Jakarta. Yonnatta Alejandro Monsalve of Venezuela won the Tour de Singkarak 2017 fifth stage between Solok City and Padang Aro in South Solok, West Sumatra, on Wednesday (22/11).
"The result is in line with the team's strategy. Today we can finally reach the target that we have been trying to win over the last four stages," Monsalve said.
Cyclists and officials from 29 countries enjoyed the natural beauty of Solok during Wednesday's stage.
They entered a unique cultural tourism area known for its traditional Minangkabau houses, or rumah gadang, in Sungai Pagu district.
The area, which has become a tourism icon in South Solok, was established in the eighteenth century.
The local government is currently empowering owners of these artistic houses to create homestays to attract more tourists.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya previously said the Tour de Singkarak has high publicity value and that it should be used to promote Indonesian tourist destinations to the rest of the world.
