Visitors Flock to Experience European-Like Cold as Frost Blankets Mount Bromo

Probolinggo. The dry season has brought extreme temperatures to Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS), with temperatures dropping below 5 degrees Celsius. This has resulted in the formation of frost, which coats the leaves in the caldera area of Mount Bromo.
This natural phenomenon typically occurs from July to August, making the mountain region particularly cold. Recently, frost has been observed around Mount Bromo, especially in the Probolinggo district.
Visitors seeking the unique experience of European-like cold and the sight of frost-covered landscapes are advised to arrive before sunrise. As the sun rises, the frost gradually melts away, adding to the charm of the area.
In addition to the breathtaking sunrise, the frost phenomenon attracts many tourists. After enjoying the frosty scenery, visitors often continue their journey around the Bromo crater.
Septi Eka Wardani, Head of the Administrative Office of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, said that this frost phenomenon occurs annually during the dry season. "Due to the cold weather, visitors are advised to wear thick jackets or gloves," Septi said on Wednesday.
Septi added that frost is not limited to the Mount Bromo caldera but can also be seen in other areas of TNBTS, such as Ranupani and Ranukumbolo on the slopes of Mount Semeru.
"We urge visitors to be cautious and aware of the risk of fires in the Mount Bromo area, as frost occurs during the dry season," she cautioned.
To mitigate fire risks, the management has set up posts in areas prone to fire outbreaks, ensuring prompt reporting to on-duty personnel if a fire occurs.
