Jakarta. The Ministry of Tourism opened the Wonderful Indonesia Festival at One World Mall in Bangkok, Thailand, on Nov. 17 to promote Indonesian tourist attractions.
The festival featured a screening of the ministry’s three-minute video, titled "The Journey Through Wonderful," which won two awards at the United Nations World Tourism Organization's video competition.
The Wonderful Indonesia clip shows popular Indonesian tourist destinations — including Yogyakarta, Bali, Raja Ampat in West Papua, Sembalun and Gili Trawangan in West Nusa Tenggara, and Wakatobi in Southeast Sulawesi — as well as traditional arts such as batik and Balinese dance.
The event also showcased carnival costumes from the Malang Amore Festival, held in Malang in East Java, which gained praises from visitors for its uniqueness.
According to a statement released by the ministry on Monday (20/11), Malang Amore Carnival won several international awards for best costumes in Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and Germany.
Ahmad Rusdi, Indonesian ambassador to Thailand, who attended the event, praised the creativity showcased in the festival.
"The event garnered praises from ambassadors from other countries […] I hope the number of tourist visits from Thailand will increase," Ahmad said.
