Sports Ministry Officials Sign Integrity Charter Ahead of Olympic Center Development
Jakarta. The Ministry of Youth and Sport has expressed its commitment to eliminate all forms of corruption ahead of the development of the Cibubur Olympic Center in East Jakarta.
Recognizing that the project tendering process may be prone to fraud, acting Sports Ministry secretary general Sakhyan Asmara said ministry officials have already signed an integrity pact, promising to stay away from corruption, collusion and nepotism.
"For good governance of sports facilities and infrastructure, we've asked for a commitment from officials," he said.
According to Sakhyan, the procurement process for the project has been designed to conform with the principles of integrity, transparency and professionalism.
"People no longer need to worry about how the Sports Ministry is using its funds, since we've optimized internal controls. All work is being checked by auditors," he added.
The integrity charter states: "If I breach the rules under this integrity pact, I will accept moral, administrative and criminal sanctions and fines in accordance with state law."
The Cibubur Olympic Center is set to open in October, after the 19th National Sports Week (PON XIX), which is taking place in Bandung, West Java, from Sept. 17 to 29.
